After the walk
What to eat after a rice-field walk
What happens after the Petulu bunds: a welcome drink, then cooking, then the meal. Do not peel off to a cafe between the fields and the stove.

The short answer
After the Petulu rice-field walk you go to the kitchen, not to a cafe. There is a welcome drink, then you cook, then you eat: lunch after a morning, dinner after an afternoon. If you walked the fields on your own, eat once you are back on a road.

The walk ends at the kitchen, not at a cafe
The Petulu rice-field walk is about half an hour on the bunds. You will be warm and thirsty. On a booked food day the next thing is Warung Tumang Bali: a welcome drink, then the spice table, then the meal you cook. Lunch follows a morning. Dinner follows an afternoon.
Do not peel off to a cafe between the fields and the stove. The point of the walk is to arrive at the kitchen ready to cook, not to start a second itinerary. What to eat before you leave Ubud is a different question: keep that meal small.
If you walked the fields on your own
Eat after you are back on a village lane or a road, not on the bund. A warung plate in Ubud is enough. Do not sit in the paddy with a picnic. The fields are still farmed.
Closed shoes help more than a snack in a bag. In the wet months the bunds are slick; that walk is written as a wet-season food day.
What is waiting
At the kitchen the drink is first. Then you cook. Then you eat. You do not need a hidden pastry. Children who walked with you eat the same food at the table.
The warung is in Banjar Laplapan, Petulu, about 10 minutes from central Ubud, depending on traffic. One kitchen, one pin.
Questions before the day
- Should I eat on the rice bunds?
- No. The paddies are still farmed. Eat at the kitchen if you are booked, or after you are back on a lane if you walked alone.
- Is there food waiting after the walk?
- A welcome drink is first. The meal comes after you cook. You do not need a snack in a bag for the last stretch.
- What if I walked the fields without a class?
- Eat a warung plate once you are off the bund. Do not picnic in the paddy.
