Itinerary

A half-day food itinerary from central Ubud

A practical half day of eating and walking: dawn market, Petulu rice fields, one village kitchen, and a quiet afternoon. One business, not a list of restaurants.

Morning

Leave central Ubud early. The ride is about 10 minutes from central Ubud, depending on traffic. If you are booked at Warung Tumang Bali, pickup from a hotel or villa in the main Ubud area is included, and the morning session runs from 8:30am to about 12:30pm.

First stop is the morning market: chilies, shallots, coconut, leaves. Then the rice-field walk into Banjar Laplapan. Then the kitchen. You are not hopping between cafes. You are following ingredients to the place they will be cooked.

The kitchen in the middle of the day

Warung Tumang Bali is one family kitchen, capped at eight guests. Chef Wayan Suryana teaches in English. You grind base genep, cook a run of dishes, and sit down to the meal you made. There is a welcome drink, and a printed recipe booklet to take home.

This guide is not a second booking desk. If you want that morning, the class details and the booking form live on tumangbaliclass.com. The map pin is the same warung, not a new restaurant for each website.

After lunch

You will not be hungry. Walk back through the village lanes slowly. Flower offerings are set out on thresholds and shrines in the morning and often still in place after lunch. A coffee later in Ubud is enough. Skip a second heavy meal.

The afternoon class, 2:30pm to 5:30pm, is the other shape of the same day: no market, the rice walk, then cooking, then dinner. Pick one session, not both.
