Before you cook
What to eat before the kitchen
What to eat, and what to skip, before a Petulu food day so lunch or dinner at the village kitchen is the meal you can finish.

The feast is the meal
A morning at the kitchen ends in lunch: rice, sambal, vegetables, sate or tempeh, and often a soup or a corn fritter, with dadar gulung when the crepes are on the board. Eat a small breakfast. Coffee is enough. A full cafe brunch means you cook a plate you cannot finish.
An afternoon session ends in dinner. Eat a normal lunch earlier, then leave a gap. A heavy snack at 2pm sits on top of the food you are about to cook.
What is already there
There is a welcome drink when you arrive. You do not need to show up light-headed, and you do not need snacks for the stove. The market stop is for ingredients. Taste what a vendor offers and keep walking.
Children who are cooking eat the same food. Say how many are coming when you ask about the day so the table matches the group. A shared day still stops at eight guests, adults and children together.
After the table is cleared
Plan coffee back in Ubud, not a second restaurant. The note on when to eat is the rest of that idea. If you want the methods before you arrive, Cook Balinese has them, including nasi goreng and kare ayam.
This page does not take payment. The session itself is described on the class page, and a WhatsApp note from this site says it came from Ubud Food Guide.
