The short answer

Yes, both fit in one day. The Sacred Monkey Forest in central Ubud is open 9am–6pm with last entry at 5pm (IDR 130.000 per adult in 2026). Book the 8:30am cooking class at Warung Tumang Bali in Petulu and visit the forest around 3pm, or go to the forest at 9am and take the 2:30pm class, which ends in dinner.

The two fit in one day

The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Padangtegal, central Ubud, opens 9am to 6pm with last entry at 5pm. In 2026 foreign adults pay IDR 130.000 and children IDR 100.000 at the gate or online. Most visits take one to two hours.

The cooking class at Warung Tumang Bali runs twice a day in Petulu, about 10 minutes from central Ubud, depending on traffic. Morning is 8:30am to 12:30pm with the market; afternoon is 2:30pm to 5:30pm and ends in dinner. Either one leaves room for the forest.

Plan A: cook in the morning, forest in the afternoon

Book the 8:30am session. You walk the morning market, then the Petulu rice fields, then cook and eat lunch with Chef Wayan Suryana. Free drop-off brings you back to your hotel in the main Ubud area around early afternoon.

Rest through the heat, then walk into the forest around 3pm. That leaves two hours before the 5pm last entry. You will not need lunch or a snack; the class meal covers it.

Plan B: forest at opening, cook in the afternoon

Be at the gate at 9am, before the tour groups, and leave by late morning. Eat light. The afternoon pickup takes you to Petulu for the 2:30pm session: rice-field walk, cooking, then dinner at the kitchen. Back at your hotel after dark, with no dinner left to plan.

Plan B skips the market, which only runs with the morning class. Choose Plan A if the market matters to you.

Do not carry class food into the forest

The macaques are wild and grab anything that smells of food. Leave leftovers, the recipe booklet bag, and loose sunglasses at your hotel before you go in. Do not touch or feed the monkeys, and keep bags zipped.
